Description:  This excellent Abseiling course in the Blue Mountains will take you to a level of competence where you can safely join experienced abseilers on single and multi pitch descents. After learning essential rope, rigging and self rescue skills you will become more self reliant at abseiling and better able to take responsibility for your own safety. You will be taught to use a variety of abseil devices and methods including rappel racks, goldtails, stop descenders and improvised methods such as crossed karabiners and friction knots. Abseil lock offs and self belay techniques will also be dealt with. Other subjects covered include prussiking with both prussiks and mechanical ascenders, knots, anchors, rope retrieval, use of rope protectors, and an in depth session on self rescue techniques to get you out of situations such as rope, clothing and hair jambs etc. As a prerequisite for this course you should have completed our Beginners Abseiling Course or have attained an equivalent level of experience.
